DESCRIPTION
Earthwatch is an international non-profit (501(c)(3)) organization that sponsors field research, conservation and training programs. To date the organization has supported over 2,000 projects in 118 countries. Over 50,000 volunteers, the EarthCorps, have assisted scientists in the search for solutions to environmental and cultural problems. The mission of Earthwatch is to improve human understanding of the planet, the diversity of its inhabitants and the processes that affect the quality of life on earth.
SERVICE AND ACTIVITIES
Field projects in 1997 related to water resources include:Most projects consist of a series of two-week teams with 6-10 scientists, staff and EarthCorps volunteers.
