DESCRIPTION

In 1986, the Colorado State University established CIIM to promote and coordinate the capability and activities of the University and affiliates in all aspects of irrigation development, improvement, and management in the state of Colorado. In the United States and in other countries, its mission is to provide an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to irrigation management.

SERVICE AND ACTIVITIES

CIIM has directed more than 75 training courses for hundreds of professionals from 18 different countries. CIIM has managed or participated in irrigation development and training projects in Spain, Hondoras, the Phillipines, Egypt, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and romania. The funding levell of these projects has totaled more than $2.5 million (US$)

AREA OF CONCENTRATION

Performance, evaluation, monitoring, design and management of a variety of irrigation systems. Planning, management, legal administration of river systems. Drainage and salinity control. Communication in irrigation management. Irrigation management study tours. Water user organizations and farmer-managed irrigation.
