DESCRIPTION

The Bureau of Reclamation, an agency with the Department of the Interior, is an environmental organization assisting Western states and communities to solve contemporary water problems in an environmentally sensitive and economically sound manner. As the nation's largest wholesale water supplier. Reclamation was founded in 1902 as a civil works construction agency. It built such engineering marvels as Grand Coulee, Glen Canyon, and Hoover dams. The agency's focus has recently changed from civil construction to water resources management and environmental restoration.
